Jaisalmer: a golden city of Havelis
Introduction
Camel safaris are just one more reason to visit Jaisalmer, but the attraction remains the royal havelis residences of the royal families of Jaisalmer. A world-class heritage and heritage company, Havelis is one of the top Jaisalmer attractions that are most visited by visitors. The prosperous merchants of Jaisismer contributed to the legacy of the mansion. There are many palaces to see in Jaisalmer. The villas attempted a saga of sandstone sovereignty. This is now a pleasure for tourists, as they enjoy excellent maintenance. The three havelis of the 19th century are extraordinary and impressive places.
Architecture
The palaces were both a residence and a status symbol for merchants. The more luxurious the Haveli, the richer the merchant. The architecture of these havelis is exclusive and unique. The front doors are carved and the stone carvings are great. For example, Haveli of Nathmal was formatted by two Muslim brothers: Hathi and Lalu. Stone elephants are carved on the doors of two havelis in front of Salim Singh ki Haveli and Nathmal Haveli. Also worth seeing are the engravings of trains and bicycles, artifacts of modern times. The interiors of the imposing havelis are decorated with charming miniatures.
Sights
Of particular interest are three main havelis in Jaisalmer.
Patwon ki Haveli
This mansion is the most elegant affair of grandeur. The palace, which is located between narrow streets, is divided into six apartments, two of which are made by the Archaeological Survey of India. The mansion was built between 1800 and 1860 by five Jain brothers who flourished trading fine brocade and jewelry.
Salim Singh ki Haveli
The 300-year-old and rather intricately shaped private haveli is named after its first owner, Jain diwan Salim Singh. From the narrow floors it expands in a multitude of sizes. You will love seeing the beautiful vaulted ceilings with shelves carved in the shape of a peacock. The strangest thing about the structure is that it is built without the use of mortar or concrete.
Nathmal ki Haveli
This 19th century haveli was once the home of a prime minister. It prides itself on its impressive exterior, which ranges from carving to painting. Two brothers Hathi and Lalu designed and contributed to the design of the Haveli.
